Outcome Based Education

In recent years, in many parts of the world, traditional education has made way for Outcome Based Education (OBE), whereby instead of focusing on the traditional education inputs (content and time), we now focus on what students can actually do after they go through the education process. In other words, we focus on the ‘learning outcome’, which is the ‘destination’ we are headed. The best way to get to the destination is by determining where it is, and then plan backwards and strategize the best way to get from here to there.

Program Duration

The program duration is four years which equivalent to eight semesters. About 60% of the contact time is allocated for hands on sessions, which cover laboratory works, computer-aided learning, workshops, industrial attachment, design projects and technical problem solving. The remaining 40% contact time, is dedicated for theory-based learning.

Postgraduate Studies

Opportunities exist in our school to undertake supervised research at either doctoral or masters level in environmental engineering studies. A full-time research degree entails supervised research, either on an individual basis or as part of a research team. The aim of a research degree is to provide a thorough training in a particular discipline area through original investigation and experiment. The precise focus of research is agreed between you and your supervisor.
