The A3I Short Cultural Program –
UniMAP was a remarkable international collaboration organized in partnership with the University of
Yamanashi (Japan), Pukyong National University (Korea), and Hangzhou Dianzi University (China). Held
in Malaysia from 12 to 26 February 2025, the program offered a unique platform for cultural
exchange, academic enrichment, and international engagement.
The program enabled students from
four countries to participate in a diverse range of academic, cultural, and social activities. It
fostered global friendships, mutual understanding, and cross-cultural competence, while enhancing
students’ educational experiences through shared perspectives and collaborative learning.
The program was held in Malaysia from 12 February to 26 February 2025.
UniMAP became the host from 12 to 26 February 2025.
The program commenced
with the arrival of 24 international participants from Japan, Korea, and China at
UniMAP@KL. The first day featured an ice-breaking session, followed by a vibrant “A3I
Got Talent” performance segment, where students showcased their talents and shared
cultural narratives.
In the afternoon, the group
embarked on a Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour around Kuala Lumpur, visiting iconic sites such as Tugu
Negara, Dataran Merdeka, and Central Market. The opening day concluded with positive feedback, with
participants expressing appreciation for the warm welcome and immersive experiences.
The second day began with breakfast at the Royale Chulan
Hotel, followed by visits to the Petronas Twin Towers and Aquaria KLCC. The group later traveled to
Putrajaya, visiting Putra Mosque where they observed Muslim prayer rituals and admired the
architecture.
After a lakeside walk and dinner at IOI City Mall, the
second “A3I Got Talent” session was held, strengthening camaraderie through shared performances.
The day balanced cultural exploration with social engagement, deepening international
friendships.
Day three began with a visit to
the Petronas Project Command Center, where participants observed AI-powered dashboards and digital
systems. UniMAP representatives also introduced A3I initiatives and discussed potential
collaboration opportunities
In the afternoon, the group toured the Faculty of
Artificial Intelligence at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), engaging in presentations
and discussions on AI innovation. The day concluded with a lively third round of “A3I Got
Talent” on the return trip, reflecting the group’s continued energy and enthusiasm.
Participants traveled to Penang
and conducted an industry visit to Oppstar, a key player in the semiconductor sector. They gained
insight into advanced manufacturing processes and technological research, reinforcing the relevance
of academic-industry partnerships.
The fifth day featured
team-building activities at Escape Park Penang, followed by a beach visit to Batu Ferringhi.
Simultaneously, Prof. Chung conducted an official visit to CEASTech, engaging in strategic
discussions and lab visits with industrial partners including Petronas and MDEC.
This day successfully blended
outdoor recreation with high-level academic collaboration.
The program continued at the
UniMAP TVET Center, where students explored vocational training facilities. A key highlight was an
interactive session with UniMAP Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Zaliman Sauli, who shared
insights on leadership, education, and international cooperation.
Participants later joined a
cultural dance workshop hosted by Pusat Kebudayaan, learning Tarian Ayam Didik, followed by
traditional martial arts and Woodball sessions coordinated by Pusat Sukan & Rekreasi.
An ice-breaking session with
local students, led by A3I alumnus Azizi, successfully built rapport through games and group
interaction. The day concluded with a visit to Perpustakaan Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, where
students admired the library’s design and facilities.
Participants visited the
Faculty of Electronic Engineering Technology and its Cleanroom Facility, learning about
high-precision research in nanotechnology and semiconductors.
Later, they attended a
Bahasa Melayu class, practicing conversational skills to connect with the local culture.
The group then visited the
Arau Palace Gallery, where they explored the royal history of Perlis. Special appreciation was
extended to DYTM Tuanku Raja Perempuan Muda Perlis for the thoughtful souvenirs gifted to
participants.
In the evening, the Majlis
Ramah Mesra A3I took place at Tasik Alumni, featuring the final “A3I Got Talent” session,
certificate presentations, and recognition of the organizing committee’s efforts. The presence
of UniMAP’s senior leadership elevated the prestige of the event, marking one of the program’s
most memorable nights.
Participants visited the
Harumanis Mango Farm, a significant agricultural site in Perlis. Although the trees were not
fruiting, the group gained knowledge about mango cultivation and its cultural-economic
relevance.
The event acknowledged
the support of the Faizuddin Centre of Educational Excellence, which sponsored the
participation of asnaf students from Perlis. These students had the opportunity to taste the
renowned Harumanis mangoes, making the experience particularly memorable.
This day promoted
cross-cultural dialogue and community engagement, contributing to the program’s overall
impact.
The A3I Meet the Community USR
event engaged over 100 participants, including UniMAP students, international delegates, and
schoolchildren from SK Seri Indera.
Activities began with an
environmental clean-up at Timah Tasoh Sanctuary, followed by community services such as
motorcycle oil changes, solar lamp installations, and a scenic boat tour of Tasoh Lake.
The event successfully
promoted environmental awareness, teamwork, and community connection. It left a profound
impression on all involved and reinforced the program’s commitment to meaningful social
impact.
