ASM Northern Region, in
collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Advanced Sensor Technology (CEASTech), Universiti
Malaysia Perlis, organized the program FAIT 2025: Football AI Tournament – Enhancing STEM Through
Sports and Play, held from 4 to 14 August 2025.
The program provided students
with the opportunity to explore STEM learning interactively through a sensor-based football
league, where player performance was monitored in real time. In addition, participants were
introduced to 3D design and artificial intelligence (AI) analysis.
The initiative highlighted
ASM’s expertise through the involvement of Associate Professor Dr. Ammar Zakaria and Associate
Professor Dr. Latifah Munirah Kamarudin, both recipients of the Top Research Scientists Malaysia
(TRSM) award.
FAIT 2025 attracted the
participation of 60 secondary school students and 250 primary school students, along with
international students from the A3I Asia Plus campus, including representatives from the
University of Yamanashi, Japan, and Pukyong National University, South Korea.
This approach is considered
unique as it not only integrates technology with sports but also sparks students’ interest in
pursuing careers in STEM by exposing them to future-oriented technologies.
