Day 3 - A3I Campus Asia Short Mobility Program at University of Yamanashi, Japan

📍 21st August 2024 ; 9:30 AM ; Yamanashi, Japan

Using the same mode of transport, upon reaching UY, we were awarded a scholarship of 80,000 yen per student by the Student Exchange Support Program at UY. To facilitate an efficient campus tour, all the students were divided into four groups, each visiting different locations: the library at UY, the memorial of Prof. Satoshi Omura (Nobel Prize Winner), the cafeteria, and the Global Classroom, rotating among these places.

After the campus tour, we visited the project lab, which showcased an agricultural prototype for shining muscat grapes in Yamanashi. There were two prototypes for identifying bad berries, one using a hologram and the other using a laser. Additionally, a prototype was created to assist in identifying and trimming the berries. The postgraduate students from UY have also developed an app to detect the ripeness of shining muscat grapes and to perform counting.

After lunch, the students were divided into two groups: one group learned traditional Japanese dances, and the other explored Kadou (flower arrangement). The Japanese Traditional Dance lesson was led by student assistants (SAs), while the Kadou class was taught by Ms. Yuki Adobe, who has been practicing Kadou for 32 years.

In the evening, together with PKNU students, we visited an ice cream and jewelry shop near Kofu Station, guided by Kodai Horikawa, Aoi Imamura, and Hara Chisato. Later, Kodai Horikawa once again took us for dinner and dessert and safely guided us back to the guest house.
